In August 2016, I finally got to visit The Great Bear Rainforest and see my first Grizzly Bears in the wild.
It had been an ambition since immigrating to Canada in 2004.
I spent 3 days up at Knight Inlet Lodge, photographing these majestic animals, but also learning about their behaviour and social interactions from the experienced local guides.
This image was from my second day. I had watched this bear on my first day and found him very entertaining to watch. I was persuaded to enter the British Columbia Magazine's 2017 Photo contest by my wife. With a maximum of 4 images to submit, I was having a hard time and this one wasn't even on my radar, so I want to thank my good friend Gord, for selecting it as his favourite to send in.
